The General Council of the Assemblies of God (USA), one of the largest Pentecostal movements in the United States, was organized in 1914 by a broad coalition of ministers who wanted to work together to achieve common goals, such as sending missionaries and providing communion and transparency in the ministry. Organized during the emerging global Pentecostal renaissance, the Assemblies of God quickly spread to other countries where indigenous national organizations were formed. The Assemblies of God (USA) is a constituent member of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship – one of the largest Pentecostal fraternities in the world.

Today the affiliated churches in the United States number 13,023, and the AD has more than three million members and adherents. Worldwide, the Assemblies of God has 68.5 million members and is the largest Pentecostal denomination in the world.
